05/06 Cinco de Mayo

Where: Barron Park Elementary, 800 Barron Avenue, Palo Alto

When: Friday, May 6, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

What: Bring joy to the little elementary school students in their celebration of Cinco de Mayo by serving food and helping out with games!

 

05/07 May Fete Parade

Where: Palo Alto Downtown at the intersection of Emerson and University

When: Saturday, May 7, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

What:  March in one of Palo Alto's biggest event!  Volunteers get to wear parade t-shirts and carry a banner throughout the whole parade.

 

05/07 May Fete Fair

Where: Addison Elementary School, 650 Addison Avenue, Palo Alto

When: Saturday, May 7, 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. 

What: Join our community in our annual spring celebration.  Bring happiness to the youth of Palo Alto by helping out at the fair after the parade that is coordinated by Partners in Education. Free Lunch is provided for the volunteers.

 

05/08 Running of the Bulls

Where: Gunn track

When: Sunday, May 8, 7:30 a.m.-11 a.m.(in various shifts)

What: Make this run successful!  Work at the registration tables and help cheer on the little kids as they speed by you on the track!

 

05/14 and 05/15 Friends of Palo Alto Library Booksale

Where: Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto

When: Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (in various shifts) and Sunday, May 15, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

What:  Help FOPAL with their booksale by working at the cashier box, arranging books, collecting donations, and other various tasks.

 

05/20 Kiwanis Special Games

Where: De Anza College, 21250 Steven Creek Boulevard

When: Friday, May 20, 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

What:  This is a really amazing event that lets us interact with children of special of needs that attend our local schools.  Join fellow Kiwanians and community volunteers and making the Games an enjoyable experience for the athletes!  Rides to and from De Anza College are provided by our lovely local Kiwanians.  Pizza will be provided for the volunteers at lunchtime.

*Sign up before Friday May 6th so we are able to to excuse you from school!

 

05/27-28 Fast For Awareness

Where: Gunn

When: Friday, May 27, 6 a.m.- Saturday, May 28, 12 p.m.

What:  Key Club is holding it's annual Fast For Awareness, where students will be fasting for 30 hours to raise awareness of the worldwide problem of hunger.  Participants are asked to raise at least $30 of donations/pledges prior to event.  Funds go to Action Against Hunger, a global organization committed to combatting international malnourishment.  The fasting begins at 6 a.m. Friday morning, and there will be an evening event in the gym with registration starting at 6 p.m.  Students fasting will be able to participate in various activities, and do an on-site service project.  At 12 p.m. on Saturday, students will be able to break the fast with a lunch that was generously donated by local restaurants and stores.
